While working within the fashion industry I saw the complete lack of thought for our surroundings both environment and people. With the brand Nomadic mother I aim to make positive changes within the industry to lead the way for more purposeful clothing.
Each design decision and process has been mindfully thought though from pattern layout for the least waste, to the conditions in the factories I use. As well as using sustainable fabrics, packaging and trims, Sustainability is a journey and I plan to be fully transparent about its development within the brand.
Sustainability Ethos
“It’s very important to me that you not only feel good wearing the clothes but also feel good about wearing them.”
. Fabric .
All the textiles we choose to use are from a mixture of dead stock, natural fibres and organic sources. We choose fabrics carefully that are breathable, durable, and soft on skin which we know is really important in pregancy when the skin gets much more sensitive.
. Packaging .
. Manufacture .
Manufacturing in the UK has always been important to me. In the UK we have minimum wages, better health and safety and workers rights. There are many small business making quality garments in the UK and this is talent we should nurture and invest in our own economy. By manufacturing in the UK we reduce our carbon footprint by not shipping or airing product across the world.
. Design .
My collections are designed with longevity in mind, with style at the core instead of trend. Each piece is designed to be transitional from bump to breastfeeding and beyond. Adjusting and growing with you. My collections consist of pieces that can be dressed up or down, suitable for a number of occasions and traitional across seasons.
