Born from a need to feel and dress as myself again with my ever changing body shape and life style. Nomadic Mother is developed and designed for the journey of motherhood and beyond. Birth of the brand.
I’m Amelia — a mother of two, and the designer behind Nomadic Mother.
I’ve spent over ten years working in the fashion industry, moving between small studios and large-scale production. I’ve hand-finished garments in couture spaces, and I’ve also stood inside factories, watching clothing be made quickly, in huge volumes, and often without much care for its impact.
Over time, that pace stopped feeling right to me.
Nomadic Mother was born from a different place — from motherhood, from change, and from a desire to create something more considered.
When I was pregnant, I struggled to find clothing that still felt like me. Everything felt temporary, or like I had to compromise — sizing up, making do, never quite feeling like myself. It was a moment where my identity was shifting, and my wardrobe didn’t support that.
So I began designing pieces that could.
Clothing that moves with you. That adapts through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Pieces that don’t need to be replaced as your body changes, but instead stay with you — quietly supporting you through it.
Now, my focus is on creating in a slower, more intentional way.
I work with sustainably sourced natural fibre fabrics, producing in small runs here in the UK. Each piece is made with care — not just in how it looks, but in how it feels to wear, and how long it will last.
This way of working matters to me. After years of seeing how quickly clothing can be made and discarded, I wanted to create something different — something that holds value, both in its making and in its wearing.
Over the past year, life shifted again. We moved from London to Cheshire, from boat to land, and I pressed pause on the brand for a while. It felt overwhelming to hold everything at once, and I needed space to settle into a new rhythm.
In that time, I returned to making with my hands — not just in fabric, but through clay, metal, and natural materials. It reminded me why I started in the first place.
Nomadic Mother is growing into something broader now. Still rooted in clothing, but slowly expanding into a space for making, for connection, and for a more grounded way of living.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing things with more care.
Thank you for being here,
Amelia
What is at my brands core.
Obsessed with Fit.
I develop and test fit on real pregnant women to ensure these garments really are flattering, comfortable for you and your bump. I obsess over the fit using constant sampling, focus groups and customer feedback to develop my own patterns.
Let’s be clear about this.
Transparency is really key to me to and just as motherhood is a journey so is the development of my brand. Choices and directions I choose to take my brand in really do affect the product and my impact. I aim to share my journey as clearly as possible to show that there is always more to be done and how I will make the change I aim to.
Style over trends.
I design with longevity in mind to create pieces to treasure in beautiful hand picked fabrics that are breathable and soft on the skin. The whole collection is designed to dressed up or down to give more value per wear to each piece.
Sustainability.
I am passionate about reducing the carbon footprint of fashion. Through the use of more sustainable materials, minimal waste, small production sizes and mindful thinking I am to make my collections have a smaller impact on the environment and change the way we consume clothes.
Ethics.
I am passionate about making sure nobody has to suffer for fashion. I produce in the UK to make sure I can meet the people that make my clothes. I want to celebrate diversity and inclusion through my imagery and designs, normalise pre and post-natal bodies and celebrate the journey of motherhood as a whole.
It’s about us all.
I am passionate about mothers, from someone who has been there, who is there and knows the path is rocky and uneven I want to celebrate the reality of motherhood. I aim in time to be able to support more mothers through part time work, in creating a community as well as working with a variety of women’s charities to support and up-lift others whatever stage of their journey.
